Hey- it’s SUMMER, VACATION season! Or is it? With the “Covid” situation present or gone all around the world it makes us think twice. You suddenly have questions when you can come, is it safe and what can you do once you get there?
If you want to come to Mexico Caribe – you in luck because here, you will have all the answers! And the news is good, even more- it’s great!
Over all, the state of Quintana Roo or Riviera Maya, is preparing to open for the tourists from 15th of June. While Cancun is preparing for the crowds of all-inclusive hotels and Playa del Carmen is trying to recover its party scene, Tulum is preparing its laid back and relaxing atmosphere on the boutique hotel zone and the village to welcome the people. Here I will tell you what you can see and do in and around Tulum if you will decide to come with your family and /or friends for vacation.
With regards of the safety- the worst affected was Cancun, but now everything is under control. As Tulum is a small village it was closed down immediately and re-opened just at the beginning of the June with least cases in the state. Now all the boutique hotels and small restaurants are coming back to life and it is definitely as safe as it can be. Of course with people starting to come to town from other places you need to take your personal safety in consideration and avoid big gatherings with other people in very close proximity. But don’t panic- people traveling by plane have to come a very strict health checks by airports and here in many places like supermarkets, you will have the sanitizer procedures and wear a face-mask, so all health and safety measures are still in place.
Public beach in all Riviera Maya should officially open 15th of June if all is good. However, if you renting in Sian Ka’an – you can use the beach freely.
Restaurants are allowed to start opening from 8th of June. Some of the restaurants and hotels that confirmed us their opening: 10th of June Sanara, Casa Malca 11th June, Arca 20th June and Papaya Playa, Ana y Jose, Nomade, Be Tulum and Playaakun 18th of June. However, not all of them will open now as some selective restaurants on the beach decided to open only in November, so check their website/facebook page first.
If the idea of the bungalow or a room in the boutique hotel is still too crowded for you and you are looking for the safest option, to stay away from the people in the circle of your friends and family only– it would be the private villas in Sian Ka’an Biosphere, at the end of hotel zone, where is absolutely secluded and private, with big distance from one villa till the other and you can have a feel like you and your family are the only ones on the beautiful Caribbean beach and enjoying stunning nature around with the oldest cenote lagoon system on the other side.
Tulum is known for its yoga, white sand beaches and relaxed atmosphere, but did you know it’s also a great place for families?
Pyramids, cenotes, waterparks, Sian Ka’an Biosphere oldest cenote lagoon tours, snorkeling are a few to mention.
Besides the world’s best beaches, the Riviera Maya region is a real paradise for a family with kids – with all its eco-water parks and adventure parks, where you can swim in rivers, lagoons or cenotes, zip line, ride ATVs in the jungle, snorkel and much more.
All the X waterparks like Xcaret, Xenses, Xplore and Xel-ha are already open as people are in the nature. You can spend all day there as some are open till 10 pm and some are open even through the night! So if you coming with kids or with friends – day of memories guaranteed.
Don’t also forget that you are in the Mayan land, surrounded by the Mayan culture, ancient ruins that you can admire and clime, food and more. I suggest you to visit my personal pyramid site favorite in the area called Ek-Balam pyramids and national site close to Tulum. You will enjoy claiming it, discovering small rooms still left and seeing it from another pyramid ruins in front. Also, after that you can go swimming and snorkeling in many cenotes in this area- the crystalline natural sink pools in the jungle, which were sacred to Mayans, and see all the amazing stalactites and stalagmites.
What is Sian Ka’an Biosphere Reserve? It is a natural National Park, protected by UNESCO, with narrow lane of white sand beach and palm trees, Caribbean sea on one side and deepest, oldest cenote lagoons on the other. Scientists still don’t know how deep is cenote in this lagoon and what flora and fauna it has. It is heaven with thousands of species of birds, animals, where you can swim with kayaks or take the boat tour with all your family, float down the rock bed river, that is around 5000 years old and go to see underwater pyramid, manatees, crocodiles, ray fish, turtles and rare sea eagles, cranes and many other rare birds in their natural habitat. Sian Ka’an is also the best place for the best fly fishing or bird watching.
So, if you are thinking to come to Riviera Maya to disconnect from all the craziness and recharge, please do so and you will not regret it! And if you would like to stay in the private villa on the beach in Sian Ka’an beautiful park – please come to stay with your family and /or friends at the villa Playaakun, where you will have a private chef and maître and all your other needs will be looked after too, just relax and enjoy! www.playaakun.com.mx
