A bit of the history of the villa: this villa started as a dream for me and (my business partner) Claudio in a rainy London back in 2009. Me and Claudio we had this dream, crazy idea of building a hotel or a villa on the Caribbean beach and after few years of research we came here to Tulum and found this beautiful land – at that moment it all looked impossible, but we fall in love with the place and if you want something very much – you always find a way to do it. We found away and after 3 long years of learning rules and regulations of Sian Ka’an and making architectural project in lines of Biosphera requirements we started building. This villa was built entirely by hands of local workers, with no machinery and without any change to the nature around or cutting trees, as we were adamant to do it well. We put all our best energy, love and care as well as many other people who build it, as it wasn’t easy. While doing it we were thinking about the name and as according to some stories this was a land of Godess Yakunah – Mayan for love and fertility and it made our dream come true we decided to give it a name Playa of Yakunah or for short- Playaakun. And now for the past 2.5 years we enjoy sharing this beauty and our love with other people, or clients, to multiply the love and joy.
Design: We have designed this villa with our clients in mind for the family and friends to have plenty of space to be together and have their private spaces as well, as we have 100 meters of front beach and we still have ideas in progress. Here in the villa at the back we made a play room as the kids to rest from their parents with the PlayStation and other games. This big airy living room was designed to be cool and fresh at every part of the day without the A/C and it has big lounger for everyone to gather comfortably with the beautiful view over the pool and the sea. As people spend more time outside than inside in the Caribbean, we made this very big patio lounge area, that becomes star gazing area in the night. Also for anyone who needs more private space – we made the roof terrace throughout the length of all the house.
We build this house as multifunctional – to whatever your client needs. It can be holiday home or it can be turned into a different events- weddings, yoga retreats, TV shows and for the business people to come for corporate trips. This villa can fit comfortably 5 couples – 10 people, or up to 14 people depending on the situation. Please approach me later and I will show you around more privately the rooms and surroundings.

That’s why we meet and greet every client personally with Claudio to know them personally and identify their needs and aim to deliver the best service and privacy with most love and care we can provide.

Eco-Ecological stands not only for the architecture of the villa so it would have the minimal impact to the nature around to preserve it for the future, for example we raised the villa above the ground, so the animals and sand could freely move under it, we have complicated 5 filter sewage water system, all house is powered only by solar panels, but also – we designed all the house in the way that it would be as much self-sufficient as possible and fresh without the air conditioning so it would be used minimally by our clients. THIS season we proud to say we making another step and presenting our clients with ecological, home grown food. And home grown meaning grown by Claudio himself- vegetables, herbs and eggs – everything will come from his personal nurtured garden and chickens! Adding to the honey brought from distant Mayan villages, that are homes of our workers.

Luxury- what is the definition for that? Some say “Gold plated or high tech finishing of the 5-star hotel” or as we agreed with Forbes journalist and I quote: “By the end of the stay you might have another idea of luxury, one of the more spiritual nature”. In the quickly over developing world with no boundaries- wild nature is becoming extinct, meaning it’s quickly becoming the biggest luxury of all. Being able to disconnect in a paradise like place, where you can be present in your privacy, enjoy your personal time and feel liberated and happy with no care in the world and all other needs taken care of – in the busy life of today – that is luxury, as we hear our clients say.
We offer: -full privacy in the villa, VIP transfer services if needed from the airport and during the stay, -our private chef will cook 3 meals a day and prepare snack according to what client wants, we discuss personal menu with the client before the arrival, -we personally will provide concierge services to the client to provide tailored holiday to every single person who comes through our doors, as all people and their needs are different,- our maître will be here 24/7 looking after our clients, as well as barmen services, housekeeping and maintenance 24/7 as in any other 5 star hotel.
In the past 2.5 years we had here ambassadors, governors, famous actors, designers, new age billionaires and the simple people who would treat themselves with a quality time gathering family from all around the world- that is the true happiness and luxury that we all are worth it. We attend everyone the same- as royalty, as part of our family.
